I Can Relate :)

Everyone always wants new things. Everybody likes new inventions, new technology. People will never be replaced by machines. In the end, life and business are about human connections. And computers are about trying to murder you in a lake. And to me, the choice is easy. ~ Michael Scott* * The Office , Episode: Dunder Mifflin Infinity, Season 4

Whirling Thoughts...

My mind is whirling with thoughts that crash into each other and pummel the shores of my neurons. I really wish I had time to calm the raging sea inside of me by penning my contemplations into smooth ripples of sense. For now, I will leave you with a telling quote from Charles Price's sermon entitled Turning the World Upside Down : Is there a "so far, but no further" for you as a Christian? If so, you are not a true disciple of Christ. You are just in it for the ride and you hope it will be good.

Our Music Lover

Image
My favorite moment from yesterday: "A., where is your brother?" I ask. "He's in your room playing music and dancing," came her nonchalant response. "What!?" I question as I rush off to view the evidence. I enter my space. The radio is blaring. And I observe the little boy, dancing away, with one arm swaying to the music and with tiny hips wiggling to the beat. I giggle in spite of my mild annoyance over my son's disobedience in entering our bedroom. People, we have a music lover here!

Radical Mothering

Image
I had an unexpected start to the new year. After our little family’s Christmas/New Year’s celebration, I picked up the book Radical by David Platt and started perusing its pages. I don’t know what I was expecting. Relaxing, light reading before settling in for the night? More of the “same-old, same-old” Christian non-fiction? Well, definitely not gut-wrenching, challenging “Wake-up Rain” thoughts... Please join me at Our Journey Home to read the rest of my monthly post for Family Friday . Your support is appreciated!

Thankfulness #19: The Park in January?!

Thankfulness #18: Seven Day Meal Plan

Image
Christmas Goodies! Here is my seven day fantastic fantasy meal plan! Sorry to make all you "I gotta get some exercise and lose weight" New Year's resolution'ers drool. Day 1: Tacos with all the fixings: Cheese, meat, re-fried beans, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, cucumbers, guacamole, tomatoes, and a squeeze of lime (a crowd pleaser in our home). Dessert? Fried Ice cream (only tried it once, but remember it tasting GREAT) or ice cream from the D. King (my daughter can't wait until May!). Day 2: Pancakes with syrup, bananas, peanut butter, strawberries, peaches, whipped cream, and chocolate. With a greek omelet on the side. And hash browns. No dessert required after that! (N., can we split two meals again?) Day 3: Chicken curry, vegetable basmati rice, naan, cucumber raita, samosas, and mango pickle. Dessert ~ Warm Gulab Jamuns. Thanks Mom! Day 4: Veranika, farmer sausage, cream gravy, and garden corn. Dessert: Chocolate Flapper Pie. My mother-in-law got ...

What I Really Want

I'm tired. Doesn't help that I woke up four times last night to various needs of my two little ones. Doesn't help that I experimented with creating Aloo Tikka (potato patties) with left over mashed potatoes only to chuck the whole batch in the garbage because it tasted strange to everyone. Doesn't help that I'm reading David Platt's Radical and realize how far I am from what Jesus challenged us to be as His followers. Doesn't help that I'm using the phrase "Doesn't help" over and over and over again! Today seems like such a contrast from yesterday, where I giddily prepared homemade cinnamon buns to celebrate our family Christmas and mark a New Year. My kids licked their lips with delight as they savoured tender morsels of gooey goodness. Their eyes lit up with excitement to discover what was under Christmas wrapping. Our family pictures to mark the event were goofy and silly. The day was beautiful and joyous. But today I feel disconte...
