Saturday Morning Treat

My husband and I treated ourselves today. We went shopping at one of the more expensive grocery stores in our area. After all, we only needed to buy items such as fruit, vegetables, meat, and dairy. And this store does have fresher produce and tastier protein options than the store we usually frequent. And guess what! We haven't had such a pleasant shopping experience in a long time. It was so positive that it warrants a blog entry. If you are curious, here are my reasons why!
  1. Courtesy parking for new and expectant parents. So handy for this stage in my pregnancy.
  2. Sanitation wipes to clean the carts before you seat your little one.
  3. Free cookies for kids. Just go to the bakery and ask.
  4. Produce section that is well looked after with plenty of employees arranging fresh foods in aesthetically pleasing pyramids.
  5. Grilling steak that is absolutely divine on the BBQ.
  6. Saturday is sample day. I tried a new yogurt.
  7. Wide aisles, tasteful "grocery store" decor.
  8. Bumping into several acquaintances. (1) University Professor whose current experiences in the College of Education reminded why I did not pursue a life of a professor. Too much politics! (2) Former students who affirmed my reasons for becoming a teacher. (3) A Christian colleague who encouraged us that God would provide my husband with future employment.
  9. A friendly cashier who gushed over our little girl while she scanned our items.
  10. A grateful customer who accepted our stamps so his wife could redeem free cookware. (We do not shop at this store enough to earn all the stamps needed to get a free frying pan.)

It was such a great morning! Too bad we cannot afford to frequent this store more often. But that is okay. It just makes us appreciate the times that we do.
